The basis of what we teach at Leyton Parish Church is the centrality of the risen Lord Jesus Christ in our lives and the outworking of His transformational power through the working of the Holy Spirit as revealed in the Bible.
We don't tend to tell people what they should or shouldn't do - we believe it is more important to encourage them to draw closer to Jesus and allow His Spirit to reveal to us personally how we should be behaving - although there are some issues that are clearly right or wrong and we do not shy away from these. Likewise guidance is offered in areas where there seems no obvious way.
We encourage people to question all aspects of their lives - even their faith for faith, if it is worth anything, should be able to stand up to scrutiny. We do not leave our brains in the porch when we enter the church building!
As part of the Church of England we teach the doctrine of the Trinity along with other elements of authorised Affirmations of Faith including the Nicene and Apostles creeds.
Teaching is encouraged throughout the life of the church through various social and spiritual gatherings. Alive to God Prayer Group and Maranatha fellowship groups are places where teaching is particularly important along with the address or sermon at the main 10.30am service on a Sunday.
